Relaxing in Khairan Resort!

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

We decided to get a chalet at Khairan resort before it gets crowded over summer, well, I was glad we did. The place was almost empty no noisy kids or clueless cars driving around … plus the weather was really especially nice early morning and late night.

The last time we had chalet in Khairan was during late 80s and I remembered we were planning to go on Aug 1990 but you know how it went .. Yes, it has long time that I was really amazed with the level of improvements and chalet furniture and cleanness. In addition, free wireless internet is included for the whole period .. I used it to do this post :P

We got the newly furnished chalet called Royal (8 adults + 2 maids) for 150KD/night. Comparing with Sea shells or Kempinski Bedaa, this chalet may beat them. I was told that the new villas (200KD/night) are amazing too, next time en sha’a Allah

What good about Khairan is its conservativeness .. Unlike Jay Z, family won’t appreciate girls running around with bikinis. It offers the best family atmosphere, families have lot of things to do soccer fields, basketball courts, swimming pools, play grounds, bowling, arcade games , water activities … etc if you don’t like this, no worry get your PS3 or Wii along!

Since the world cup is going on, I was concerned where I would watch the games! To my surprise, the chalet was equipped with two 42-inch LCD TVs with selected satellite channels including Jazeera world cup channel and if you smoke shisha, they have big projector out there.

The things I hated about Khairan is the sea, it is full of sharp rocks; two of our family members got their feet injured.  Plus, they need to think of getting some new rides; they still have their old ones.

Tourist Attraction: Paint Ball

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

Ok time for another tourist attraction in Kuwait post. “Paint Ball” an endurance and adventure game. Located under Kuwait towers, Piant Ball opened in 2000. It’s the place for the war you love to fight.

I went there several times since it was open and had my losses and victories. last time i was there i went with the Dewaniya guys and we played against some American solders (for the recored they never been in real combat) and it was a draw were we won the first two rounds and they won the second two rounds tongue

The Alpha Team

Thats my team above :D

The Beta Team

It was a real war out there no games and we gave them hell ;)

trouper (Martinet)

One of our troupers who we lost in action as you can see the paint ball hit on his head – god bless his soul – ;)

Is was a fun night after the games we all ( us and the Americans) went for dinner at Chille’s :)

Girls can also play there, i saw some play in the small field, talking about the field it keeps changing from time to time.

Coming Soon: Indoor Go-Kart @ 360 Mall

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

The guys at freez in 360 Mall told me that the new indoor amusement park, Infunity, was scheduled for opening last week. So, I stopped by to check it out this evening. Infunity is located in 3rd floor; it will be easier to find if you use the escalator next to TGI Friday’s.

The place is nice and empty and  has new things to do away from Kuwait’s burning hot weather such as roller coaster (in service), climbing wall (in service), cool play ground for kids (in service), Go-Kart drifting track (coming soon), and more. I did not take pictures of the whole place except the Go-kart which I like the most.

The only drawback of the Go-Kart is the track, it’s small and tight for the number of karts they have in there. It will be interesting to see how people will race in it. Infunity working hours are 3pm – 11pm everyday

Tourist attractions: The Grand Masjid of Kuwait

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

This is one of the attractions where I always take foreign friends to when they visit me. Now a days there are tourist tours in the Grand Masjid for both men and women of different beliefs Muslim or non- Muslim; for women there are head-scarves available to wear during the tour :)

All you need to do is visit them and ask for the tour, off course it’s better to call them and set an appointment at 22980800

General Information about the Grand Masjid:

The Grand Mosque is the largest mosque in the country of Kuwait. Its area spans 45,000 square meters, out of which the building itself covers 20,000 square meters. The main prayer hall is 72 meters wide on all sides, has 21 teakwood doors, and has lighting provided by 144 windows. The dome of the mosque is 26 meters in diameter, and 43 meters high, and is decorated with the “Asma Allah Al-Hosna”, the 99 names of God. The mosque can accommodate up to 10,000 men in the main prayer hall, and up to 950 women in the separate hall for women. The mosque also contains a 350 square meter library of Islamic reference books and documents. To accommodate the large number of vehicles belonging to worshippers, the mosque also contains a 5-level car park underneath the eastern courtyard which can hold up to 550 cars. Construction on the mosque started in 1979, and the mosque was completed in 1986.

Kuwait Metro Finally a realty

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Yesterday i was at the Avenues mall where i saw a display of what is seems to be Kuwait Metro. I couldn’t believe it until i saw it.

I spoke to the two young women at the displayed model and they explained to me that this is a project by the “Kuwait Transportation Union” and it will start within two years and will take around 5 years to complete. The project is done by a Spanish company.

The Metro will be connecting all of Kuwait from Fehaheel all the way to Jahra and Farwaniya all the way to Kuwait City and all the areas between. Moreover it will have a spot at Kuwait international airport and also will connect to the GCC railroad that means we can travel around the GCC by train in the future.

Wish you luck and hope i see it in my life time :)

Tourist attraction – The Qurain martyrs house

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

It’s an awesome place to visit. Its conceder also a historical place, it’s where the final battle happened between the Kuwaiti resistance and the Iraqi invaders before Iraq lost the war and forced out of Kuwait.

Location of the martyr’s house is difficult but I’ll try: Al-Qosor when you’re on King Fahad high way take exit that says Al-Qosor & Mubarak Al-Kabeer, take the traffic light right and follow the singes.

Visiting house: All week long from 9 am till 12 the from 4:30pm till 7:30

Better to go when there is sunlight Miss Farah was a bit spooked out because it got dark

Visiting the martyr’s house gives a mix feeling of remembering the awful days of the invasion and pride for what Kuwait martyrs (Heroes) did to free our country.
