BreakFast @ Nino

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Just like other restaurants, Nino has started breakfast service for quite sometime. Along with my family, we were their first customers on that day. What I liked about their breakfast menu is full of many options.

We had breadbasket, berries waffles, spinach cheese omelette, and beverages. Food was ok  except that I did not like those sides potatoes because herbs overpowered the taste and hated  the use of frozen berries ‘coz for the same price i would get fresh berries  sexy looking waffles.

BreakFast @ Mugg & Beans

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

Mugg & Beans is franchise restaurant established in South Africa. It’s mixture of coffee-place & casual dining. I knew about them through mouthwatering eggs benedicts ads  in a local magazine.

For me the interior looked more like Bar than causal restaurant. The place was empty and so quiet; I was there at about 9AM on Friday so maybe that was the reason. Since I was alone, I did not have a chance to try out many things, so I decided to go with their signature South African farm breakfast (also called Mugg & Beans)

Though I’m not beans fan, I have to admit their beans tastes good. Overall, everything on that plate was ok except that hash browns. I did not like it because first it was fried and tasted like potatoes chips.

Coming Soon! Hotel Chocolate

Monday, April 12th, 2010

The British owned luxury chocolate store, Hotel Chocolate, is opening soon at Al-Kout Mall located in Fahaheel . I’ve been in their Manchester,UK  store and liked decoration and staff black outfits; it just gave formality and luxurious feeling. Also I tried some of their products like chocolate truffles, dips, flavoured drinks and liked them so far.

Let’s Burger Experience

Monday, March 8th, 2010

While at 360 Mall and after receiving positive comments about this new Lebanese origin burger franchise place called Let’s Burger, we decided to give it try with zero expectation.

The PLACE is huge though the entrance confused me with very limited tables and gift shop. The place looked familiar with American style diners and music; it seemed a mixture of Jonny Rockets and Fuddruckers joined in new colors.

The SERVICE was average with with new opening confusion fever! They need to be better organized to control the floor by allocating staff accordingly. Not be mistaken with staff attitudes, they were friendly and helpful but I’m talking about their performance on that night.

FOOD! I liked their menu choices; it had a thing for everyone. Yet, Zzz BURGER was not what I would expect from such restaurant concept. We had classic aka have it ur way and cheese stuffed Burgers with bits of everything as appetizer.  Having have it ur way you would get to stop by the burger bar which was not impressive, you cannot get crazy have it your way; I would like to see more items to choose from such as mushrooms, caramelized onions, cheeses, dips … etc

Presentation-wise our burgers, at least the classic, looked basic just like store-bought Khazzan or Americana. My classic BURGER was not juicy at all; the argument was “We don’t use fat and serve lean meat healthy burgers” … Ok! What about the dry buns? Not moist at all, they fell apart with every bite I had … Come on they could not be freshly bake every day. Or maybe they are being stored wrongly in open air that dries them out

To sum it up, the food taste and experience was ok. I may have Let’s Burger in future but I will not miss it. In case, you stop by I would not recoment having have it ur way burger unless you are on special diet or don’t want to have heavy meal at night … Wish them the best :)

Morning & Evening

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Breakfast restaurants are not new phenomena in Kuwait but recently they got more popular. I guess more are becoming morning people and like to wake up early in the morning.

If your one of those you can head to the Morning & Evening restaurant, it combines many features.

Opens from 5 AM to 10 PM

They serve variety of International food, American breakfast, British fish & chips, Pilipino, Japanese, Lebanese and Thai food. Maybe even more but I don’t reminder.

Last weekend we went to try it out for breakfast and the food was pretty good although the service was a bit slow with some general comments about food taste :)

Prices are very reasonable.

They’ve just opened. They are located in Fahaheel the street after the early bird restaurant if you coming from the Canadian school side.

Baby Fatayer From Dean & Deluca: Review

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

baby_fatayer

I think that I saw their baby fatayer before Ramadan! But that spinach looked so yummy … and that pomegranate syrup glazed meat whispered into my ears … !

Taste wise all of them were good but I would go with the big fatayers; they taste better than the baby ones and fluffier. All their baby ones cost .200 fils each except that sesame horse shoe like costs (with dates) .400 fils

Cold Stone Ice Cream

Friday, June 12th, 2009

ColdStone2

Yesterday in Avenues, we stopped by cold stone to give it a try. Personally, I’m not a fan of cold stone back in the US; I used to prefer local ice cream places. But I heard that they have some nice flavors. Unfortunately, Kuwait branch did not have my personal favorite, lemon custard.

We tried Coffee sitting on waffle cone and mango! I do not recommend the mango as it tested like cheap mango juice. But the coffee was nice; especially the waffle cone was freshly baked when I was there.

Next time will try to more flavors :)
