Just like other restaurants, Nino has started breakfast service for quite sometime. Along with my family, we were their first customers on that day. What I liked about their breakfast menu is full of many options.
We had breadbasket, berries waffles, spinach cheese omelette, and beverages. Food was ok except that I did not like those sides potatoes because herbs overpowered the taste and hated the use of frozen berries ‘coz for the same price i would get fresh berries sexy looking waffles.

ألتقط هذه الصورة منذ فترة و نسيت نشرها، كنت في زيارة لمستشفى الأميري و لاحظت وجود صورة لمسلسل سكرابز على أحد المكاتب و كانت الصورة مغطاة بأختام دكاترة .. والصدفة أن يوم أمس كان عندنا نقاش حول جودة دكاترة الحكومة و الخاص! أظن بعد هذه الصورة أن الشخص اللي كان راية أن أغلبية دكاترة الحكومة دايخين راح يزبد إعتقادة في رأية .. الله يهداهم لو حاطين صورة مسلسل هاوس أو جريز أناتومي يكم يغيرون رأيه .. بس شنقول كلن بقلبة شجا ليله ،الله يديم الابتسامة علينا وعليهم
2010 Graduation Project: Keep Your Distance

Kuwait’s traffic situation is getting worse every single day. Statistics and numerous reports indicate that Kuwait has the highest rate of death cases caused by car accidents. It was noticed that many accidents occurred from sudden stop and driver’s sudden attempt to change lanes carelessly. Consequently our project aims to avoid car collision caused by these events. The vehicle is designed to perform three different tasks depending on the status of other vehicles. The designed vehicle drives in self navigation mode until the ultrasonic sensors fixed in the front, detect another vehicle ahead. The vehicle will continue driving normally until the front vehicle distance reaches two meters in which the first task will start and the designed vehicle will slow down automatically before the driver reacts. The vehicle will continue slowing down until the distance between the two vehicles reaches one meter, then the second task will start and the vehicle will switch to stop mode to avoid sudden collision. The designed vehicle was developed more to avoid sudden side collision by installing side ultrasonic sensors on the left and right sides. If ahead vehicle does not resume moving within a threshold time, the designed vehicle will start moving to left or right. Once the side sensors detect passing vehicle, the third task will start automatically preventing the designed vehicle turning left or right. Results of this project are vitals and must be implemented by car industry to decrease number of accidents due to driver’s lack of concentration.

2010 Graduation Project: O-Mega Building

Mix use mall and hotel. O-Mega project consists of 200m diameter spherical shape with a 5-Star hotel that will be connected with a suspended bridge. Under this bridge a huge swimming pool serves the hotel guests and it may consist a huge fountain. Moreover, there will be some green area and water fall that will make guests feel part of the natural environment. The total gross area will be 235,252 m2, and the project will cost 52,400,000 KWD.
The Spherical Building:
The spherical building is the major structure in the project that will have a total of 12-floor, 6-floor of luxury shopping mall, 2-floor of cinema world where guests can find movie festivals and wax museum, 2-floor KIDZANIA and Gym, 1-foor mechanical service, and finally 1-floor tremendous botanical gardens. The total gross area of spherical building equals 204,396 m2
Connected via a suspended bridge comes 5-Star hotel with gross area of 30,856 m2. The 3-floor hotel will consist of 68 rooms/per floor. The Hotel facilities are:

2010 Graduation Project: 4th Gate

4th Gate is a mobile phone application used to guard mobile phone from being lost or stolen.
How it works:
Once the application installed in the mobile, a tracing process starts using Google Maps embedded in our website. If the mobile is lost; you can simply send an SMS using any other mobile phone containing some code that will be understood by 4th Gate. Your lost mobile will reply its GPS coordination. Another senario may happen; if your mobile phone is stolen, the thief will replace the SIM card. 4th Gate will check whether the new SIM card is the same as the old one or not. If not, a message will be sent to an alternative number entered previously in 4th Gate containing GPS coordinates. So; with our application, your mobile cannot be lost or stolen.

2010 Graduation Project: Blind Spot Detection System

Here we are featuring another project of the 2010 Kuwait University engineering graduation projects titled Blind Spot Detection System (BSDS). Following is project abstract and video demonstration two main features of prevention mode & warning mode.
All too often road traffic accidents can occur through poor visibility, which can sometimes be caused by blind spots. Blind spots are areas in adjacent lanes of traffic that are blocked by various structures in the automobile. The physical constraints in eye movement, head and body rotation make certain areas invisible to the driver. Driver blind spots exist despite the fact that vehicles are equipped with a series of view mirrors to assist the driver. However they come short and lots of collisions occur. As an attempt to reduce these collisions we are designing a warning device that indicates the existence of any moving object in the blind spot areas. The device will be addressed as (BSD) short for blind spot detection. It can be installed in cars to provide its element of safety. The device will work under two operating systems. The first operating system is the prevention system whereas In case of car detection in the blind spot area and the car driver intends to turn towards the detected area simply he can`t .The second operating system basically works by giving the driver a warning. The warning begins in case of the detection by flashing an LED on the side mirror to inform the driver .If the driver misses this warning and attempts to turn or change his lane towards the detected area an alarm is sound. The device is considered as simple and inexpensive solution in which it is useful at night and under difficult weather conditions. As a resultant outcome the driver can safely turn and change lanes without any worry. The street will have more safe and smooth traffic, where many innocent lives will be saved not to mention money.

Relaxing in Khairan Resort!

We decided to get a chalet at Khairan resort before it gets crowded over summer, well, I was glad we did. The place was almost empty no noisy kids or clueless cars driving around … plus the weather was really especially nice early morning and late night.
The last time we had chalet in Khairan was during late 80s and I remembered we were planning to go on Aug 1990 but you know how it went .. Yes, it has long time that I was really amazed with the level of improvements and chalet furniture and cleanness. In addition, free wireless internet is included for the whole period .. I used it to do this post 
We got the newly furnished chalet called Royal (8 adults + 2 maids) for 150KD/night. Comparing with Sea shells or Kempinski Bedaa, this chalet may beat them. I was told that the new villas (200KD/night) are amazing too, next time en sha’a Allah
What good about Khairan is its conservativeness .. Unlike Jay Z, family won’t appreciate girls running around with bikinis. It offers the best family atmosphere, families have lot of things to do soccer fields, basketball courts, swimming pools, play grounds, bowling, arcade games , water activities … etc if you don’t like this, no worry get your PS3 or Wii along!
Since the world cup is going on, I was concerned where I would watch the games! To my surprise, the chalet was equipped with two 42-inch LCD TVs with selected satellite channels including Jazeera world cup channel and if you smoke shisha, they have big projector out there.
The things I hated about Khairan is the sea, it is full of sharp rocks; two of our family members got their feet injured. Plus, they need to think of getting some new rides; they still have their old ones.
2010 Graduation Project: Al-Douqs

As promised in our previous post that we will be featuring some 2010 engineering graduation projects. Here, we are gladly present you with first project of this series called Al-Douqs out of Mechanical Engineering Dept.
Al-Douqs is a mechanical streamlined prototype that resembles a dolphin shape. A simulation of the dolphin’s maneuver is carried out in this project. The prototype can float or dive on water; jump up into air and even roll. Al-Douqs is made of fiberglass and total to1.73 m. It’s maximum height 0.38 m. It is powered by a DC electrical motor which is controlled remotely. The prototype can travel with a speed of 30-40 km/h and thus can enter most of marine competitions of similar nature and shows. It can be used even in educational, advertisement and entertainment sectors. Al-Douqs is capable of functioning in both fresh and salt water.
