رمضان – Ramadan
Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011
I’m taking this opportunity to talk about Ramadan and shed some basic information about it to my fellow muslims, non-muslims, and converts/reverts, so here goes.
What is Ramadan and what’s so special about it?
Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar, where it was chosen that fasting is obligatory by God “as it was upon those before you”. This refers to the divine religions before Islam which are Christianity (such as Lent) and Judaism (for example Yom Kippur), who also perform a period of fasting.

Fasting of course is one of the 5 pillars of Islam, and whether it is compulsory (during Ramadan) or preferably (the rest of the year), fasting begins from sunrise to sunset. During this time, eating, drinking, and sexual activities are prohibited.
Note: The Arabic word for fasting is “si-yam”, where the first syllable is pronounced as in the word “sit”, and the “a” in the second syllable is pronounced as in the word “calm”.
Why fast…I mean, come on, what benefit do you gain?!

Friends at Japan
Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011Back in 2007 I traveled to Japan to study Japanese in a language center at Tokyo for 2 weeks, for I love Japanese culture.
In a very short period I made many friends there in a very divers class. There was students from Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Australia, USA, Iran, France, UK, Germany, Canada and Kuwait
We used to go out after class is over and enjoy our Japan experience … we really had a blast
One day we were at our friends apartment, Thomas from Switzerland, with Shawn from Korea, Miho from Japan and Me from Kuwait ;D
We were trying to pronounce the hardest words in every body’s langue which were German (for the Swiss), Korean and Arabic. I got my friends Arabic try on tape
I really didn’t want to release the video I conceder it very privet, but I hope you enjoy it
Ironman and Wolverine Make it to Japan in an Anime debut!
Saturday, January 15th, 2011Apparently sometime back in 2010 someone at Marvel Comics decided that anime fans should get some of the Marvel goods by introducing two of their most iconic characters into the Anime scene, giving Ironman and Wolverine an Otaku-Makeover!
I’ve clumsily learnt about this by accident where I’ve stumbled on the whole Ironman anime (directed by: Yuzo Sato) consisting of 12 episodes online. I’ve later learnt that this has been aired back in October 1st. 2010 on Animax in Japan and G4 States side, and ended on December 17th of the same year. Not long ago however, in January 7th 2011, Wolverine’s cut of the cake (Directed by: Hiroshi Aoyama) started airing and will take the same stretch apparently of 12 episodes, running on the same networks as its predecessor.
Both shows have been produced by the giants at Madhouse Studio in Japan (Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D, Trigun, Sakura Wars… etc) so you are definitely in for a treat. Both shows have been given their unique story lines, both taking place in Japan whether visiting for scientific reasons by introducing IronMan Dio and stumbling upon an evil organization called Zodiac (in Starks’s case) or looking for a Lost/kidnapped girlfriend, daughter of a Japanese Crime Syndicate (Logan’s case).
Marvel purists might object on the adaptation, but it seems that the West and East are looking to make amends somehow through these adaptations, can’t wait to see who’s next on Marvel’s list to make it into Anime.
Below are trailers found on youtube for both shows, enjoy!
